State Info:
Florida has one of the largest populations in America making it a great place to enter the healthcare profession. This is because the more people there are the more need here is for healthcare professionals to take care of them. Working as an LPN in Florida is a great way to ensure job security and peace of mind in your career.
Not only are there many fantastic schools to choose form but you will also be able to improve your career and job prospects even further by taking part in one of the many LPN to RN programs that you will be eligible once you have successfully completed your LPN qualification.
Licensing Requirements
In order to be licensed as an LPN in the state of Florida you will have to firstly hold a high school diploma in order to get into an LPN program. On top of that you will need to take part in both a health check and criminal background check, both of which must come back clean. These are the requirements that you will have to meet before you can even enroll for an LPN program. Once you have satisfied these LPN requirements you will then be eligible to enroll in a program. The program must be certified with the Florida state board of nursing in order for you to be properly licensed once you have completed the program. If you are not accredited with the board than all of your hard work as well as the money you have paid will have been wasted. Once you have completed a program you will have to write the NCLEX-PN exam which will then allow you to be fully licensed as an LPN to practice in the state of Florida.
Exam Fee
The fees involved in writing the NCLEX-PN exam as well as the fees you will have to pay in order to be licensed as an LPN in the state of Florida are as follows:
You will have to pay $200 to Pearson Vue in order to be able to write the NCLEX-PN exam
On top of that there is a fee of $204 which, alongside the clean criminal and health check, will license you with the Florida State Board of Nursing
You will also have to pay $145 every two years for the renewal of your license, as well as providing proof of 24 hours of continual education in those two years
Salaries
Program | Hourly Rate | Annual Rate |
LPN | $19.03 | $39520 |
RN | $30.01 | $62436 |
BSN | $30 | $63,876 |

- Work-study programs: in such a program you will be able to work on the campus of your school in return for a small income which will allow you to fund your studies
